Trabuco Canyon Brush Fire Forces Evacuations

Firefighters Battle to Contain Blaze

A rapidly spreading brush fire in Trabuco Canyon has prompted mandatory evacuations for residents in the area. The fire, which was reported just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, has already burned over 1,000 acres and is threatening homes and businesses.

Mandatory Evacuations Ordered

The Orange County Fire Authority has issued mandatory evacuation orders for the following areas:

  • Gavilan Hills
  • Modjeska Canyon
  • Santiago Canyon Road from Santiago Oaks Regional Park to Silverado Canyon Road

Residents in these areas are urged to leave immediately and follow the directions of law enforcement officers.

Firefighting Efforts

More than 200 firefighters are battling the blaze, but strong winds and dry conditions are making it difficult to contain. The fire is burning in rugged terrain, which is also hampering firefighting efforts.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, officials say that it may have been started by a downed power line.
