Jamaica Turns Away Cruise Ship

Carnival Cruise Ship Crashes into Pier in Jamaica Amid Massive Storm

Passengers Stranded for 12 Hours

A Carnival cruise ship slammed into a pier in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on Tuesday, leaving passengers stranded for 12 hours amid a massive storm. The incident occurred at approximately 6:34 p.m. local time when the Carnival Glory cruise ship, carrying over 2,000 passengers and crew, crashed into the pier during high winds and heavy seas.

Pier Damaged Last Month

The crash comes just weeks after the pier was damaged by another storm, forcing MSC Cruises to cancel several sailings. Carnival Cruises has since begun informing passengers that their cruises will be impacted by the damage, and some sailings have been canceled.

Passengers Describe Harrowing Experience

In a Facebook post, one passenger described the incident as "terrifying." She said the ship was rocking violently and passengers were screaming. "We thought we were going to die," she wrote.

Help Finally Arrives

After being stranded for 12 hours, passengers were finally allowed to disembark the ship and were taken to local hotels. Carnival Cruises has said it is working to provide assistance to passengers and is investigating the incident.

Cruise Ship Safety Concerns Raised

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of cruise ships during storms. Some passengers have questioned why the Carnival Glory was allowed to sail in such severe weather conditions.
